
President Milanović Receives Representatives of the Green Trust
The President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović held a meeting with representatives of the company Green Trust, director Jeroen Boerkamps, project manager of the Wind Farm Lički Medvjed Jorick Messink, and Croatia manager Goran Trška.
Representatives of the Green Trust presented the Wind Farm Lički Medvjed to President Milanović, which they are developing in conjunction with its German partner Enercon in the vicinity of Otočac. The Wind Farm Lički Medvjed is currently the largest such project in Croatia with planned investments of 500 million euros. Green Trust representatives underlined that the planned capacity of the wind farm is 425 MW, and the planned annual production is 1 TWh of green energy.
Jobs creation
In addition to creating new jobs, the Wind Farm Lički Medvjed plans to directly assist sustainable local projects and initiatives as stated by Green Trust representatives. They explained their plan to set up a fund of up to € 200,000 a year to support sustainable local projects whose aim is to improve the economic, social, and environmental living conditions. They noted, furthermore, that the construction of the wind farm will improve the infrastructure in the area of Otočac and surrounding communities as the project’s realization will require the construction of 25 kilometers of roads and investment in the construction of a new high voltage network.
Alongside President Milanović at the presentation of the project was the Special Adviser to the President for Energy and Climate Julije Domac.
